Spivo Stick Review

A good selfie stick needs to be as polyvalent and rugged as the camera you use it with. The Spivo stick made for the GoPro is perfect in that sense, has it can handle just as much action and adventure as your GoPro camera.

spivo-stick-buttonGoPro extension poles allow you to capture videos from different perspectives and to put the camera in places that would normally be out of range. The Spivo stick brings a new and unique possibility for video creators with it’s trigger button that rotates the camera 180 degrees.

Just press the orange button and the camera rotates 180 degrees, press it again and the camera rotates back to it’s original position. This feature allows you to switch to a totally different perspective without having to stop recording or touching the camera.

This go pro stick is not telescoping like some other brands and models, but it’s available in three lengths: 12”, 18” and 26”. We tested their best selling model, the M-18” version, for this review.

While it felt too short or too long in a few occasions, the fact that it’s not telescoping also means less messing around with length adjustments and less moving parts. We would have liked it to be able to extend in a few occasions, but the 180 degrees feature makes up for the fact that  it’s not telescoping.

We really liked the handle on this GoPro pole, it’s comfortable and offers a nice grip. Now remember that neither the Spivo Stick or the GoPro camera float, so if you are filming in or around water, make sure you are wearing the included leash to attach the stick to your wrist.

  • 180 DEGREES ROTATION
  • GOPRO TRIPOD MOUNT IS INCLUDED
  • LIGHT WEIGHT
  • ERGONOMIC HANDLE
  • WATERPROOF
  • CAN WORK WITH MANY OTHER CAMERAS

CONS:

  • DOES NOT FLOAT

  • POLE DOES NOT EXTEND

SUMMARY:

With it’s unique ability to rotate 180 degrees allowing you to quickly change your perspective while filming, this GoPro pole is the coolest we have seen. It is very light (160g for the 18″ model we tested) and although it’s made of poly-carbonate, it feels solid and durable.

The only problem we had with this rotating selfie stick is that it sometimes over rotate. In a few occasions, when the orange button was pressed really hard and quickly, the camera would do a complete rotation. That certainly did not happen every time, but it did happen just often enough to make it annoying.

Built mostly out of poly-carbonate, the stick feels “plastic” and we were a little concerned about how the product could resist to impacts. Although we did not go to hard when testing the Spivo stick, so far it seems durable and robust.

What’s in the box?

  • 1 x Spivo Stick
  • 1 x GoPro Tripod Mount
  • 1 x Adjustable Wrist-Strap

Othere Spivo Accessories

Spivo also offer 2 other accessories for your Spivo Stick, the Floaty and the Phone mount.

Attach the Floaty to your stick and it floats! Personally I prefer using the wrist strap to feel safe and make sure I don’t loose my stick and camera in water. (Remember that the Spivo stick does not float on it’s own).

The Phone Mount can be attached to your Spivo stick or any GoPro mount and is adjustable to mount any smart phone on your Spivo Stick.

The overall build quality of this Go Pro stick is great and we absolutely loved the rotating feature.
